In the textile industry, viscose fiber is a man-made fiber that has attracted much attention. It occupies a place among many fiber varieties with its unique properties. Understanding the main components of viscose fiber is of great significance for in-depth understanding of its characteristics and wide application.

The main component of viscose fiber is cellulose, or more precisely, artificial cellulose obtained by chemical treatment and mechanical processing of natural cellulose. Its raw materials mainly come from plants rich in cellulose in nature, such as wood, cotton linters, etc. These plant-derived celluloses contain a large number of glucose units, which are connected by β-1,4-glycosidic bonds to form a linear long chain structure, providing a basic chemical skeleton for viscose fiber.

In the process of producing viscose fiber, natural cellulose must first be alkalized, generally using sodium hydroxide solution, so that some hydroxyl groups on the cellulose molecules react with alkali to form alkali cellulose. Then, alkali cellulose reacts with carbon disulfide, and after a series of complex chemical reactions, a viscose solution is finally generated. This solution is then extruded through a spinneret, reacts in a coagulation bath, and the viscose is solidified and formed. After drawing and post-processing, viscose fiber is finally obtained.

The cellulose component in viscose fiber gives it many excellent properties. For example, it has good moisture absorption and breathability, is comfortable to wear, and can be in friendly contact with the skin; it also has certain strength and elasticity, which can meet the requirements of daily textile processing.

From a market perspective, viscose fiber has a wide range of applications in clothing, home textiles and other fields due to its unique main ingredients and properties. Understanding its composition can help consumers better choose products that suit their needs, and it can also help textile companies better utilize the advantages of this fiber in product development and production, and promote the sustainable development of the industry.
